Understanding is followed by the Power of Will, which allows us to choose, decide, command since Divine Will is our will. We therefore choose the right thoughts, word and actions. Charles and Cora Fillmore stated that, “He [Jesus] bore witness that the will of God is that men should not suffer—that through Him they should have complete escape from sin, sickness, and even death.” They further noted that, “One should not intellectually will to bring about results for oneself or for another. The difference between the personal will and the universal will can be known by one who practices thought control in the silence.”
Compassion *Will, energy
Compassion blooms from the soul like a lotus blossom
that emerges from the depths of a dark, still pond.
It lights up everything around it
with the spiraling energy of its sacred geometry.
All parts of its pond are bathed
in overlapping waves of soothing energy,
which, like compassion, melts the shadows of our soul.

I Am A Divine Being *Will, consciousness
I am a Divine Being even at times of adversity.
I can withdraw from present events
and spread my consciousness to release my suffering.
I nurture my inner child with the certainty
that I can love myself while being One with God.
I am the source of the Presence of God
and adversity cannot affect me.

Humility *Will, humility, peace
Humility is the antidote to society’s partisan turmoil,
the magic seed that grows into kind thoughts and actions.
It puts out the fires of rage and anger
by allowing us to create our own, more hopeful, universe.
Humility leaves no room for fear since it strengthens the soul
by transmuting anger into love.
In fact, viewing the world with humility and love
is our only true path to peace.

Beyond Worry *Will, love, peace
Worry is praying for what we DON’T want to happen,
what we DON’T want in our lives.
Worry creates anxiety and fear
rather than the love and peace we desire.
By walking into the direction of worry’s fear,
we can convert it into excitement
to change our ego’s worst-case scenario into a best-case outcome.
Thus can we shift our perception to look past our worry
and re-program our minds
to create a new scenario without anxiety or fear.

We’re Not Enemies *Will, love, forgiveness
We’re not enemies when we disagree with others.
We all want to have a good life.
Since we share our human experience,
we know the meaning of suffering,
the pain of holding onto anger and
the futility of attacking our neighbors.
If we can see everyone around us with love,
not separate but one with ourselves,
we know just how they are feeling and
our hearts can overflow with compassion.
Forgiveness is a blessing for all,
a balm for our souls and our spirits.
It’s more for ourselves than for others
and the only way to heal broken times and misled minds.

Nurturing Love *Will, love, Oneness, transformation
Everyone could have been our mother in a previous life.
Everyone we see could have nurtured and held us to her breast.
They could now be our oppressors,
reminding us that they need our love more than ever.
To move forward, we must see them differently,
since there is no “us” versus “them.”
There is only one Divine that created us all,
making us One with each other,
to be loved and nurtured as we would our own mother or child.
Only then can we transform the world into a loving place,
a home where love is the norm, not the exception.

My New Core *Will, awakening
What have I pushed aside
that I haven’t wanted to face?
How have I owned my many roles
as I’ve expanded my life’s space?
These questions I must ask
as I age out of each dominant role.
I accept my bad with my good
though it distracted from my goal.
But all roles may serve future times
so I must hold them tight.
They’re part of who I am
as long as they’re kept out of sight.
They’re lurking just beyond
my current, conscious self.
They’re not who I am today
but I keep them on the shelf.
So I can never condemn
who I once thought I was.
I may need that part of me
to temporarily rise to a cause.
Moving into my elder years,
I can manage my ego’s grip
and awaken to how it ruled
even though I’m letting it slip.
I’m moving beyond my flawed past
so my new Elder spirit can soar.
Then my ego’s dominion is gone
and my Soul can claim its new Core.

Stepping Stones to Peace *Will, peace, Oneness, success, peace
I love each moment just as it comes,
the good along with the bad.
My life is unfolding each breath that I take
and there’s no need to be sad.
Each experience I have is part of the whole
in my journey to become One with God.
Each stumbling block’s really a stepping stone,
each path’s a new one to trod.
I know I will never come to the end,
that success is just taking each step.
All moments are precious along the way
and scores don’t need to be kept.
The peace I seek as awakening dawns
comes in pieces along the way.
I grab each one as it passes by
and wish for each moment to stay.

Bittersweet Pleasures *Will
We live in very different worlds,
my talented daughters and I.
We exposed them to art from a young age
and with it they learned to fly.
It was music that captured our oldest girl,
and art was what the next one chose.
Now their children are following their mothers’ paths
and blooming like a rose.
Watching my children forge their own paths
is the greatest joy in my life.
But realizing that I can’t ride along
cuts me like a knife.
Their rockets have launched into gorgeous bursts,
like fireworks that light up the sky.
But their parents must then be left behind
once that they’ve begun to fly.
It’s bittersweet to watch them go
when you’ve loved them so much for so long.
But that’s what life’s supposed to bring
and it’s easy to do it all wrong.
We can’t hold onto past happiness;
we can only move forward and live.
Each day is a treasure to be tucked away—
our love is the best thing we can give.

Meditation *Will, peace
I return to myself for my Essence of Being.
That is my goal and I hope it is freeing.
I don’t need a reason to sit in peace,
or something to achieve, or a thought to release.
I expand my mind by looking inside
and the last thing I need is my ego’s wild ride.
By striving to do more, I achieve less
since more attracts more along with more stress.
I intend to slow each precious breath down
to keep any darkness from hanging around,
to get back in touch with the Essence of Me,
to open my mind and simply to Be
Soul-time’s not useful as a goal in itself.
It only enriches when it’s on my mind’s shelf
and kept as an ideal, a reason to live.
Meditation provides me with the time to forgive,
and time is something I cannot buy—
once it has passed it’s a lingering sigh.
